India’s Largest Credit Card issuer, HDFC Credit Cards today informed us that they have rolled out One Time Password [OTP] authentication for Online Transactions. Consumers now have a choice to use either MasterCard SecureCode / Verified by Visa OR One Time Password which will be sent to the customers registered e-mail id as well as mobile phone.
As soon as we received the call, we decided to test it out by paying Reliance Communications bill online. As shown in the image above, you are provided a choice.
We chose the OTP means to authenticate the BillPay Transaction. We were then to the next screen which said that the OTP will be Sent to the Registered e-mail and mobile number [Screenshot as below]
We then received a 6-Digit Password on our Mobile with the time of generation. This Password is Valid for a Single Online Transaction and had to be entered in the screen shown below.
The Transaction completed successfully without any hassles. HDFC Credit Cards has moved swiftly on RBI recommendations issued in March for Additional Safety of Card Holders while transacting online and has ensured safety of the entire ecosystem.
